Wedding Reading Ideas: #3 Song of Songs 2:10-14 (Religious Ceremony)

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

My third pick is for a religious ceremony, specifically, the first reading! This is from the old testament, and it’s a lovely reflection on Love and on nature. It compares the love in our lives to Spring. When the winter is over and everything is bright, verdant and green again. (I’m not a winter guy, I’m a sunshine guy! Yayy for Spring!) This reading has some beautiful imagery and, for me at least, gives a nice warm feeling, which is what you’re after on a wedding day after all! Make sure to ask your priest if they’re happy for you to use this reading in your ceremony, and if they are, I’d love to be there to capture it!

A reading from the Song of Songs 2:10-14

My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise my love, my fair one, and come away, for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come and the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth its figs and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise my love, my fair one, and come away. Let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely.

That’s it brides and grooms, there are loads more ideas for some amazing wedding readings in the blog, and if you have any more ideas, feel free to get in touch with them too! If you’d like to know more, feel free to reach out to me, but for now, have an amazing day, enjoy planning your big day, and enjoy the wedding, and enjoy married life even more!
